Wild West Coast Of Scotland

Wild West Coast Scotland Golf Tour

"Experience a memorable getaway with our exclusive packages, featuring one night and two rounds of golf starting from £210!"

5-Day Islay, Kintyre & Ayrshire Links Experience

Scotland’s west coast is where golf began to show its true character — shaped not by architects, but by nature itself. Wind carved fairways, tides shaped dunes, and generations of golfers built the game across some of the most dramatic coastal landscapes in the world.

This 5-day journey takes you deep into that heritage. From the historic birthplace of The Open Championship in Ayrshire, to the remote Atlantic edge of Kintyre, and across island ferries to Arran’s rugged charm, this is links golf in its purest form.

A Journey Through Golf History & Wild Landscape

Unlike the more polished parkland courses found elsewhere, the west coast of Scotland remains raw, traditional, and deeply authentic. Many of the courses you will play still follow the natural contours of the land, with minimal alteration — exactly as golf was originally intended.

This region has played a pivotal role in shaping the game:

  • Ayrshire is home to the earliest Open Championships
  • Kintyre’s coastline delivers some of the most exposed and dramatic links in Europe
  • Arran offers a rare, intimate 12-hole layout beloved by purists
  • The Atlantic winds define every round, every shot, every decision

Here, golf is not manufactured — it is discovered.

The Courses

Prestwick Golf Club

Prestwick holds a unique place in golfing history as the original host of The Open Championship in 1860. Designed by Old Tom Morris, the course reflects the earliest traditions of the game — blind shots, natural hazards, and an unmistakable sense of heritage. Walking its fairways is like stepping into the foundations of modern golf.

Machrihanish Golf Club

Few starts in world golf are as iconic as Machrihanish’s opening tee shot, where players drive across a stretch of Atlantic shoreline to reach the first fairway. Influenced by Old Tom Morris in the late 19th century, the course remains a classic example of true links golf — natural, unpredictable, and shaped entirely by the coastline.

Machrihanish Dunes

One of the most environmentally sensitive golf courses ever built, Machrihanish Dunes was designed with a commitment to preserving the natural dune system. The result is a layout that feels as though it has always existed — routed through untouched coastal terrain with no artificial shaping. It is golf in its most organic form.

Shiskine Golf Club

Founded in 1896, Shiskine is one of Scotland’s most distinctive courses. A rare 12-hole links, it has long been cherished for its charm, character, and breathtaking views across to the Kintyre peninsula. Its unusual routing and elevated greens make it one of the most memorable rounds in the country.

The Experience

This is not a standard golf holiday — it is a journey through isolation, history, and raw coastal beauty.

Expect:

  • Ferry crossings between islands and peninsulas
  • Ever-changing Atlantic weather conditions
  • Traditional links golf with no two rounds the same
  • Quiet, uncrowded courses far removed from modern tourism
  • Deep cultural connection to whisky, fishing, and coastal life

Every day feels different. Every course tells a story.
